It has been fifty years since Private Eric Barnes passed away. During World War II, as a Far East Prisoner of War (FEPOW), he faced unimaginable conditions. The treatment of FEPOWs was harsh and often inhumane, involving forced labour, inadequate food, and medical care, as well as physical and psychological abuse. Despite these adversities, Private Barnes demonstrated remarkable courage and resilience.
